An organisation working with and for older people across Westhoughton, Blackrod, Ladybridge, Lostock, Horwich will be opening its doors on Christmas Day for those who need some company.

Senior Solutions will be opening its doors on December 25 to anyone aged 55 and over, so they can enjoy the festivities for a couple of hours.

From 3.30pm to 5.30pm, the Winifred Kettle Centre will be open offering light refreshments and Christmas songs with friends.

A spokesperson for Senior Solutions said: “No one should be alone on Christmas Day, as many as 1.7 million aged over 65 expect to spend Christmas Day alone, well here at Senior Solutions, we do not like this at all.

“So, we are opening up for a couple of hours this year on Christmas Day for older people who have nowhere to go or no one to see.

“Any businesses or donators who would like to contribute to this please get in touch.”

If you would like to get involved in the event, let a member of staff know on 01204335107 so names can be put on a list for catering purposes.
