A restaurant in Blackrod has made it onto a prestigious top 100 list of places to eat in the UK.

The Cherry Tree at Blackrod on Chorley Road has made the cut to feature on OpenTable's list, which is based on customer reviews, after re-opening in 2020 at a time when the hospitality industry was hit hard by the pandemic.

Restaurant director Paul Roberts is delighted with the accolade and has praised his staff and customers. The Bolton News:

He said: “We are thrilled to have been voted one of the top 100 restaurants in the UK by our customers.

“The list is based on more than 1.4m reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners at restaurants across the UK.

“We couldn't be more proud to be in the top 100 along with some of the biggest names in the restaurant industry.

“We receive this accolade on behalf of each and every team member, as we recognise their hard work and dedication to The Cherry Tree and its continued success.

“Most of all, we want to thank you, our guests, for voting for us with your fantastic review.”

The Bolton News:

The Cherry Tree first planned to re-open and re-launch under new management in March 2020 but was held back by the first Covid-19 lockdown and opened for business later that year.

But while it could not open for walk-in customers, The Cherry Tree garnered a great reputation in Bolton with their home takeaways service.

Paul added: “It was so popular that there were queues around the corner from outside the restaurant.

“It just blew up and we didn’t expect it to get so big, so we had to do three days a week just to fit people in.
