Bolton's own Peter Kay took to BBC Radio 2 to make a special announcement tonight.

Kay is currently in the midst of his long-awaited live tour which began last Friday (December 2) at Manchester's AO arena.

His first tour in 12 years, Peter Kay Live will take the comedy legend all over the UK and is scheduled to run until July 2025.

Kay, who teased a "big announcement" yesterday via social media, appeared on fellow Boltonian Sara Cox's show just after 6pm to discuss his first and last music gigs.

However, the announcement was the real hot topic.

"I put a pound in this pay phone, so lets keep it brief. There’s already a queue outside," he said before chatting through the gigs.

He added: "First of all, I want to say thanks to everyone who’s bought tickets to my tour. I really do appreciate it.

"And we’ve finally managed to book some more extra dates.

"It’s been absolutely joyous. It’s been amazing and people deserve a bit of joy."

Tickets go on sale this Sunday, December 11 at 10am.

The new shows will be in Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Glasgow and many more.
