A warning has gone out to drive carefully after a house was reportedly hit by a car while the roads are "like an ice rink".

The house on Lincoln Avenue, Little Lever, was said to have been hit on Saturday morning amid icy and frosty conditions all across Bolton and further afield in the region.

Pedestrians and drivers alike have been warned to be careful while the freezing conditions persists.

Cllr Andrea Taylor-Burke, who represents Little Lever on the council, said: “Please be careful if out today the rain has made the paths and roads extremely dangerous.

“They are really like an ice rink.

“I have spoken already to someone about an accident this morning in Little Lever where a car has hit a house.”

She added: "The fire service were called out and had to check over the property, no one was injured but understandably the resident was quite shaken up.

"It happened quite early this morning, it was about 7.30am when I spoke to the resident."

Cllr Taylor-Burke explained that several residents had raised concerns about gritting and road safety to her over the last few days and that she intended to take their concerns to the council.

Concerns about gritting have also been raised elsewhere across the borough since the onset of the icy weather this week.

Cllr Taylor-Burke said: "There's a bus route there as well so we know this is something people are very concerned about.

"We don't have these kinds of conditions often but when we do they can cause huge problems so people want to be sure that we're ready for them when they do come.

"So it's definitely something that needs to be raised and I will be taking it to the council."
