Bolton's mayor has wished residents a "Happy New Year" as 2023 begins.
Cllr Akhtar Zaman says the last couple of years have been tough for people amid the problems caused by coronavirus and rising costs.
But 2023 offers a "time to start with new hopes, desires, expectations and of New Year resolutions", he said.
Cllr Zaman said: "I think it is fair to say that the past couple of years have been overshadowed by the devastating impact of Covid-19 and the cost of living crisis continues to be a huge challenge for all of us.
"The new year ushers in a new beginning, a time to start with new hopes, desires, expectations and of course New Year resolutions.
"Bolton as a town has huge potential and offers vast opportunities for its communities.
"Our diverse communities are full of talent, energy and enthusiasm and I strongly believe that we can turn these into new goals and positive outcomes for the new year and overcome challenges facing us.
"I wish all Boltonians a Happy New Year full of excitement, opportunities and prosperity!"
