A popular village pub is closing its doors for a few weeks to give staff a well needed break after the busy Christmas and New Year period.

The Cross Guns Inn in Bolton announced it would be closed from this week.

In a  statement the pub's management said: “As we enter the new year, The Cross Guns will be closed from the 3rd of January for the next few weeks to give our staff a well deserved rest and to allow our team to make some adjustments.

“We hope you understand and we apologise for any inconveniences.

The Bolton News:

“Thank you to everyone who has supported us through this past year and we hope to see you all for another great year.”

Anyone who has a voucher for the pub can use them by June this year.

The Cross Guns Inn closes after every New Year to give staff a break.

The Cross Guns is one of the oldest pubs in Bolton, dating back to the late 1700s.

It was brewery owned for many years until it was purchased in 2017 by the current owners and completely refurbished.

In May, 2021, and Jon Peek joined the team as the new general manager.

Once again, the property was completely overhauled with improvements including an outdoor dining area and bar, open plan kitchen and the addition of an art deco cocktail bar.

The Bolton News:

The pub boasts a beer garden with its very own bar, which can be enjoyed in all seasons with a log fire and retractable roof.

Jon and his team offer a comprehensive menu ranging from updated pub classics like home-made scotch egg, to seasonal based offerings like pigeon and venison.

In September last year, The Cross Guns introduced a ‘recession busting’ menu to help people enjoy themselves without breaking the bank.

At the time, Jon said: “As the cost of living is on the rise, the Cross Guns has created a new menu to which combines hearty food and quality while at an affordable price so you can keep eating out.”

The pub says it is looking forward to seeing customers when the reopen.
