The British comedy drama Educating Rita will be taking to the stage in Bolton.

Tyldesley Little Theatre is opening its 2023 season with the Willie Russell classic which follows Rita, played by the theatre's own famous Ingrid Folkard-Evans, a hairdresser who wants to educate herself and find her path rather than succumbing to social norms. She meets tutor Frank, played by Ian Pattison, who is battling his own demons.

The production also marks the directorial debut of Danny Tooby who is known at the theatre company for his numerous pantomime roles, most recently Prince Charming in the sold-out show, Cinderella.

A spokesperson for Tyldesley Little Theatre said: "The cast have been working tirelessly to really understand the characters and have been able to portray the story with such passion, humour and emotion, whereas the crew have endeavoured to make the show one to remember"

Educating Rita runs from Tuesday, January 31to Saturday, February 4
