Three pubs in East Lancashire have made the Top 50 Gastropubs in the eagerly anticipated UK list, ranked by Estrella Damm.

Lancashire is proving to be one of the best counties for high quality pubs serving outstanding food and drink in the most picturesque settings as all three Lancashire pubs placed in the top ten best.

Two of them on the list even ranked in the top five best pubs, so don’t waste a second longer before paying a visit to Lancashire’s finest gastropubs.

Parkers Arms

Coming in at the absolute best gastropub in the country, The Parkers Arms has been crowned number one in this year’s Estrella Damm list.

The Newton-in-Bowland pub took home the title after climbing from second to first place in one year.

The pub, which serves cask ales and seasonal comfort food from local produce, has previously been hailed as the “most idyllic pub”. Last year’s number one pub, The Unruly Pub praised The Parkers Arms, calling the pub a “worthy winner among an absolutely outstanding group of the best in out industry.”

Freemasons at Wiswell

This pub has remained high on the list for several years but after ranking as fifth in the 2022 gastropub awards, the pub has impressively climbed to third spot.

The delightful pub, tucked away in a quaint narrow lane in the village, serves locally sourced ingredients to make experimental modern food version of traditional pub classics.

Owner and head chef Steven Smith and his wife, award-winning front-of-house manager Aga, often house summer barbecues, "chippy teas" and tasting evenings, making the Freemasons an integral part of the community.

The White Swan at Fence

This Michelin-starred gastropub has triumphed seventh place after ranking 26th in the list last year.

The dishes may look simple at first glance, but each meal is prepared with locally sourced produce and has been crowned as serving some of the best food in the region thanks to the staff in front house and in the kitchen.

Chef Tom Parker was dubbed a “genius” by the list last year and the restaurant was praised for its ever-changing menu and affordability so you don’t have to break the bank at this venue.
