A popular outdoors centre is celebrating after making the final of an awards ceremony celebrating the region’s best businesses.

The Anderton Centre, based at Rivington Reservoir, has long been a favourite of Bolton youngsters and has now been recognised in the Lancashire Business View Red Rose awards.

The outdoor activity centre, which is part of the University of Bolton Group, has been nominated in the Tourism, Leisure, and Hospitality Award category, sponsored by Porsche Centre Bolton.

Anderton Centre CEO David Germain said: “Business Awards are a great way to raise the profile of the Anderton Centre.

“They also provide recognition for all the staff team’s efforts and hard work.

"We are super proud to be finalists in such a competitive category.”

The Rivington resort offers a range of outdoor experiences for schools, educational organisations, businesses and community groups.

Organisers at the centre say they use adventure and problem-solving activities to build confidence, increase self-esteem, develop teamwork and independence.

Activities like these have long proved popular with Bolton audiences, young and old alike especially after having been curtailed by lockdown several times over previous years.

The Red Rose Awards aim to celebrate businesses also across the historic county of Lancashire and to provide a platform for them to trade and interact with each other.

Headline sponsor John Stanworth, from Barclays, said: “The Red Rose Awards are the most prestigious awards event to promote Lancashire Business.

“It just gets bigger and better.”

If it wins then this will add to a run of recent successes racked up by the Anderton Centre, including two awards won at the Be Inspired Business Awards in Blackpool last Autumn.

These included both the Leisure and Tourism Business of the Year Award and the Education Business of the Year Award.
