An attempted murder investigation is underway after a man was found with serious injuries.

At around 11.40pm yesterday evening (Wednesday February 15), officers were called to a concern for welfare of a man at a property in Whalley Range, Manchester.

Emergency services attended the victim’s property, and he was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Initial enquiries suggest that the 32-year-old man was at a property on Cherry Tree Way in Horwich, Bolton where he sustained serious injuries.

He then travelled to his home address in Whalley Range where he alerted emergency services.

A 52-year-old man was arrested today ( Thursday, February 16) on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody for further questioning.

Detective Inspector Stuart Woodhead of GMP’s Bolton district said: “I would firstly like to reassure members of the public that this an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the general public.

“The victim is receiving treatment for his injuries and remains in hospital under observation from medical professionals.

“We are investigating all lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and how exactly he sustained his injuries.”

A police cordon was in place around the flat on Cherry Tree Way off Poplar Avenue, where they remained throughout the day.

A police van, a police car, a tactical aid unit and a crime scene investigation team were stationed outside the property.

One neighbour said: "All I know is that there is a police car outside.

"I have no idea what's going on.

"They've been here all morning.

"Nothing major happens here but sometimes you do hear of things."

Officers were seen at the scene  were seen by neighbours going into the property.

Another neighbour said: "I've heard something happened this morning. 

"There's been activity all day now.

"Everyone can just guess but if someone is hurt then we just hope they're okay.

"It's a bit serious even the CSI are here." 

According to one resident ambulance were at the scene for two hours and three police cars were at the scene.

The incident is still under investigation.
