When Muhammad-Eesa Ibrahim was taken to hospital complaining of headaches, his family never expected to be told the seven-year-old had a brain tumour.

They were told of the devastating diagnosis in December and just weeks later the brave schoolboy underwent an operation.

Muhammad-Eesa remains in hospital and is recovering - and his courage has proved to a be a huge inspiration to his cousin, Bolton boxer Khaleel Majidwho, is now raising awareness of the condition.

The Gaskell Primary School pupil  had the tumour removed on January 11.

The bright seven-year-old is recovering at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Muhammad-Eesa’s dad, Waheed Ibrahim wants nothing more than to get his son back home.

He said his son had been suffering from headaches for which they had sought treatment.

Mr Ibrahim said: “The night before flying out to Paris, Disneyland, he was taken into hospital with severe head pain, resulting to suffering a seizure, which the doctors then took him for an emergency CT scan, where he was diagnosed.

“I pray Allah The All Healing grants Eesa shifa, eradicates the illness like it never existed, gives him the best of health and returns to his normal self very soon.”

Khaleel said: “We were in shock when we found out because he was taken to hospital for a headache, and we never imagined it was a tumour.

“He still has a long way to go yet but he’s a fighter and I am trying to help his family to raise money for children all over the world.

Muhammad-Eesa has started walking again with the aid of brace and is receiving treatment from physiotherapists.

Khaleel visited Muhammad-Eesa before the boxer’s fight last weekend.

He said: “Everyone has been quite down and upset but we have to keep positive.

“We have to keep strong for him because he did everything normal kids before this.

“He liked football and boxing.”

Pupils in the youngster's class sent him pictures.

Khaleel said: “When I see a child like that I just want to do something to help.

“If there’s something I can do, I will do it.”
