Ramsbottom pupils have wowed friends, family and staff with their fantastic fantasy costumes on World Book Day.

Pupils at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School dressed up on Thursday, March 3, to celebrate the occasion.

The school, situated on Queen Street, set the theme of "Twisted Tales" for this year’s event, encouraging pupils to create and re-tell some of their own stories.

Families also joined the creatively dressed pupils for their "breakfast and a book" session in the school hall.

Head teacher Emma Moncado was pleased to see and hear the creative stories that pupils came up with.

She said: “It was wonderful to have so many of our families joining us for our 'breakfast and a book' session.

“It created a real buzz around reading.

“During the day we focused on the theme of 'Twisted Tales' this year and the children came up with some very creative stories...Little Blue Riding Hood was a favourite!”
