Family Bolton bakers have risen to the challenge to help those in need this year.

Warburtons Bakery in Bolton and its Squire Gate depot in Bolton is celebrating a milestone after having donated 95,000 products to local schools and community groups over the last year.

Last year saw the launch of The Warburtons Foundation, set up to support communities across the country, a key part of which was to provide product donations to those families most in need, through community hubs including schools and food banks.

Anne Greenwood, Warburtons Community Champion at Bolton, said: “With family values and helping local communities at our core, we are really proud to be able to continue supporting over 75 schools and community groups in our local region through the Warburtons product donation scheme.

“Over the last 12 months, we have donated over 95,000 fresh bakery products to schools, foodbanks, and community shops in and around Bolton, including organisations such as Two Brews, Bolton Hospice and People in Need.”

In addition to providing product donations, the Foundation also provides online educational resources for schools, financial giving through the form of a project and community grant programme and has so far donated roughly £260k directly to local charities and community projects across the UK this year.

Jonathan Warburton, Chairman of Warburtons, added: “Our family business has been supporting local communities from the start and it remains incredibly important to us to this day.

“We are extremely pleased to have reached our one million donation goal and this year, we’ll do even better in helping the community with our new commitment.

“We are working towards donating 1.25 million donations in 2023 – we want to continue to play out part in helping those in need, however we can, no matter the scale.”
