Police are out in force in Bolton and the rest of Greater Manchester this week as part of a Week of Action.
In a new back to basics approach, officers have been conducting operations targeting different issues every day.
This includes speeding, executing warrants for arrests, tackling issues with trading standards, burglaries, and more.
On Monday, the launch of the operation, the Rumworth Neighbourhood Team were completing speed gun operations across the Rumworth, Deane and Over Hulton area.
The neighbourhood team completed speed gun checks on New Brook Road and on Wigan Road.
Officers say that as a result, multiple vehicles were stopped, and “all drivers were dealt with appropriately”.
In Farnworth, the neighbourhood policing team were supported by student officers whilst carrying out hi-visibility patrolling around known antisocial behaviour hotspot areas in Farnworth.
Some locations visited include King Street bus station, Brackley Street, Farnworth train station and a local business on Rawson Street.
Chief Constable Stephen Watson said: “The people of Greater Manchester are at the heart of this new neighbourhood policing model, which is reflective of us taking a back-to-basics approach to traditional policing.
“Through public consultation, we listened to our communities and this is the embodiment of our action to ensure they are on the receiving end of the very best policing services.
“It combines the reassurance that comes from having local, visible, and accessible officers bound to a patch, with a determined focus on fighting crime.”
In Bury, officers from Bury’s Neighbourhood Crime Team (NCT) took part in pro-active visits to local scrap metal and car dealerships.
The visits saw the NCT working in effective partnership with the divisional tasking team and Bury Council in order to monitor compliance and build the intelligence picture around the scrap metal trade.
A spokesperson for GMP Bury South said: “Theft of motor vehicles and catalytic converter thefts continues to be a priority for us here at Bury.
“All premises that were visited today were found to be fully compliant and we would like to thank them for their time.”
