Bolton’s biggest housing provider is set to open up a range of opportunities for contractors and businesses this spring.

This comes with Bolton at Home set to launch a “meet the buyer” event next month to showcase the wide range of collaborations it hopes to set up with businesses across the borough.

The housing groups, which owns more than 18,000 properties, hopes to connect with contractors who can help with general building works, day-to-day repairs, structural and disrepair works, roofing, and support its in-house repairs team.

Senior procurement manager Fiona Summerscales said: “This is a great opportunity for local businesses to find out more about working with us and how to become part of our Building Works Contractor Framework.

“Even if you’ve never worked with us before, we’ll give you all the information you need.

“There will be an opportunity to speak with Real Living Wage and CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) representatives, as well as a short training session on completing Bolton at Home tender documents.

“There will also be time to chat with our stakeholders.”

The launch comes amid a busy time for Bolton at Home, which has recently unveiled Noel Sharpe as its new chief executive, replacing long serving boss Jon Lord.

The work the organisation does has become all the more important in recent years with the cost of living crisis having hit some of its most vulnerable tenants all the harder.

Ms Summerscales and her team hope to work with businesses that have experience in delivering similar housing works in the past.

They also expect that potential partners to pay the real living wage and to contribute to “social value outputs” around Bolton.

This refers to projects and initiatives set up around the borough which are financed through a fund set up by Bolton at Home in 2016.

Any businesses that join as partners will be expected to work alongside the housing group to help deliver these projects.

The free to attend meet the buyer event will take place on Friday, April 14 from 8am to 10am at The Green Café, Waters Meeting Road, Bolton, BL1 8SW, with refreshments provided.
