A man was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs and two air guns.

The man was arrested in the West Leigh area on Friday after officers were asked by members of the public to take action against suspected drug activity in the area.

Officers from the West Leigh and Hindley Neighbourhood teams arrested the man after searching a house in the area.

Addressing the incident on Friday, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “You asked us to take action regarding an address in West Leigh suspected of drug related activity, we smashed it.

“Today, officers from the West Leigh and Hindley Neighbourhood teams executed a Section 8 PACE warrant at an address in West Leigh.

“An adult male was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug and 2x air weapons were seized for destruction.

“We will take action to stop the harm that the illegal supply of controlled drugs causes within the community.”
