Viewers were left divided last night when the first episode of Paddy McGuinness' new TV show Tempting Fortune aired on Channel 4.
The game show sees the Bolton presenter host 12 contestants embarking on a gruelling 18-day trek across South Africa’s Eastern Cape.
The strangers are given basic survival gear - water supplies, maps, camping equipment and basic food.
Contestants have the chance to win £300,000 but are tempted with luxuries along the way that will be deducted from their potential winnings.
With the contestants eating only rice and beans at 1000 calories a day, the conflict has already started.
Last night graphic designer Lani went against the group and bought a £500 milkshake, knocking it off their £300,000 prize pot.
Lani said she went onto the show knowing she would take some luxuries along the way.
She said: “I feel like if you can have a good time, have a little treat but still take something home I think it’s a win-win.”
The group - and the public - appeared to be divided by her decision.
Paddy McGuinness's new show Tempting Fortune is gonna perfectly sum up modern society...people these days can't go without instant gratification and are insanely selfish...there'll be a zero in the prize fund at the end 🤣 #TemptingFortune @Channel4 @PaddyMcGuinness #Channel4 pic.twitter.com/145AG1yCFP

Campmate Caroline said: “Her rationale is quite understandable. She doesn’t need the £25k she wants the full experience, so she’d be happy to take £20k, so that gives you £5,000 to spend. That’s got into my mind set now.”
Some viewers predict trouble ahead...
#TemptingFortune #milkshakegate This is going to get crazy as different people have come into this with totally differing views on the experience 🤪 Lani is sooo annoying but they need better teamwork & communication. Could get nasty 🥴

If Lani has got your blood pressure up on tonight’s Tempting Fortune, you may not survive tomorrow night’s episode! 😁 #TemptingFortune
