A Manchester restaurant has received a Bib Gourmand award in the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2023.

The Spärrows is located in the city’s Green Quarter and it serves modern cuisine.

Here’s what the guide had to say about the restaurant.

Manchester restaurant receives Michelin award

The Michelin Guide says: “Nestled under the railway arches in Manchester’s Green Quarter is a restaurant whose name is (almost) the English translation of the word ‘spätzle’ – which gives some clue as to the style of food on offer here.

“The dumplings and assorted pasta dishes are all made in-house and include excellent pierogi. The focus on Eastern Europe carries through to the wine list, which has a leaning towards Polish wines.”

This restaurant is praised on Tripadvisor too with reviews highlighting both the food and service.

The Spärrows has a 5 star rating on the reviewing website with one reviewer writing: “great food but the service was excellent. the man who greeted us at the door and ran through the menu with us was a credit to the team!! i was really looking forward to this restaurant as my partner is german and i wanted to try some more unusual european dishes and it was really good! the atmosphere was lovely and i loved how we were advised to share four plates between us.”

Another said: “Unbelievable food, great service, and such a relaxed and cosy atmosphere created in an old railway arch, it’s fantastic! I’ll be back to try more dishes for sure.”

Mana in Manchester also features in the guide having retained its one Michelin Star.

What is a Bib Gourmand award?

This year, 20 restaurants have been newly awarded a Bib Gourmand with a total of 116 Bib Gourmand restaurants featured in the 2023 guide.

The award is named after Bibendum which is the official name of the Michelin Man, the website explains.
