A main road in Bolton saw a two car crash earlier today, Wednesday.

Firefighters were called to the crash at the junction of St Helens Road and Plodder Lane at just after 5.20pm today.

Firefighters from Atherton and Bolton Central fire stations were at the scene.

One person was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital following the crash.

Watch Manager at Atherton, Lewis Cross, said: “It was a coming together of two vehicles, a Nissan Micra and an Audi A1.

“One person was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital, suffering from back, leg and neck pain, but they were already out of the vehicle on arrival of the fire service.

“Both vehicles were made safe by the fire service. One fire engine from Atherton and one from Bolton Central attended.

“We were on the scene for 30 minutes. Both cars had frontal impacts and I’d say they were both write offs.”
