THIS week we take a look back at sponsored events from 1988.
Traditional fundraising swims and bike rides take their place alongside some more unusual pursuits here - not to mention some rather questionable fancy dress outfits.
There are some eyebrow raising efforts in a shot of Bromley Cross Railway Hotel customers, who staged a comic rounders match to raise money for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
Elsewhere we see All Creatures Great and Small star and swimming enthusiast, Christopher Timothy, congratulate Bolton man, Martin Killip, who had just completed five miles in the pool only 20 months after learning to swim.
The money raised went towards a children’s Christmas party.
One picture shows vicar David Morgan joining forces with his Adlington St Paul’s parishioners in a bid to pull a three tonne truck nine miles to Bolton.
Another impressive turnout was provided by Bolton Spartans Scooter Club riders, who were among 300 from across the North West who transported Easter eggs to Pendlebury Hospital.
