A Bolton hotel has started of a new series of Northern Soul events after the first proved a big success.
The first event, held on Saturday April 8, attracted more than 100 guests to the Georgian House Hotel in Blackrod to party to a range of Northern Soul classics.
This comes as the hotel, which is part of the Mercure group, aims to roll out a new range of special events and offers aimed at the community in Bolton and beyond.
General Manager David Longcake said: “The event turned out to be a great success with over 100 people turning up, after selling tickets on the door too.
“We have decided due to its popularity to make this a regular event with the next event being held on June 24.”
The Northern Soul nights pay tribute to the popular subculture of the 1960s and 70s which saw towns across the North of England host all night parties soundtracked by often rare American soul records.
Mr Longcake took up his role as general manager last November and has worked to raise the hotel’s profile all across the region since then.
He says that as well as the next Northern Soul night in June he and his staff have also planned a range of other themed nights to take place at various points throughout the year.
These include events themed around the sights and sounds of past decades with a 70s night on Saturday May 20, an 80s night on Saturday July 8 and a 90s night on Saturday August 26 with DJ sets organised by Martin Hart of Purple Rose Media Ltd.

They will feature a selection of some of the most well known songs of those decades with era appropriate décor.
Mr Longcake and his colleagues will also be hosting a dining in the dark night on Saturday September 30, a family Halloween party on Saturday October 28 and a ladies night on Saturday November 4.
The themed nights have been organised by the hotel staff to go alongside a range of new wedding themes that they have began offering and that The Bolton News was granted a first look at last month.
