A man has admitted to driving a stolen car dangerously along a major road.

Lee O’Shea, 35, was brought to Bolton Crown Court this week after driving a Ford Fiesta, which he knew to be stolen, dangerously on Atherton Road, which runs through Hindley.

He admitted his crimes but was told he would have to wait until a later date before learning his fate.

Judge Tom Gilbart said: “You will be sentenced on that occasion.

“The fact that I am adjourning this matter is no indication as to what the outcome may be, it is simply a way of accommodating the case.”

O’Shea, of HMP Liverpool, appeared before the court where he pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking and to dangerous driving on March 29 last year.

He also admitted that he had damaged the Ford Focus, which he knew had been taken without its rightful owner’s consent, while driving it that day.

Juliet Berry, prosecuting, accepted the delay to the case and will make her full case at O’Shea’s sentencing hearing later this year.

Oliver Saddington, defending, said that he too would set out his arguments at the later hearing.

O’Shea will appear before the court again to learn his sentence on Monday, May 15 this year.
