A drink driver was stopped on a major Bolton road in the early hours of the morning after being seen with no lights on.

The Ford Kuga was spotted by police on the A666 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

On stopping the car, officers found that the driver was well over the legal limit for alcohol.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “This Kuga was spotted driving on the A666 in Bolton earlier this morning with no lights on.

“Vehicle eventually stopped and the driver provided a breath sample.

“An hour later, he blew 129 in custody! The limit is 35.”

The A666 is one of the most significant roads in Bolton going all the way through the town from North to South.

This drink driver case is the latest of several that police have dealt with on the major road along with other cases of dangerous or anti-social driving elsewhere throughout the borough.

Officers have also dealt with cases of car theft, driving without licences or driving without insurance in recent months.

Anyone concerned about these kinds of activities can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.

Alternatively, witnesses can contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
