An event to raise awareness to help those affected by domestic violence while supporting two charities will take place next week.

Jenna Louise Atkinson, 34, from Lostock, will be hosting a Colour Me Safe event at Bolton Stadium Hotel on Thursday, May 11, to raise awareness of domestic abuse and also funds for Endeavour and Backup North West.

On the night there will be  shopping opportunities from local businesses, Carrs pasties will be served and talks by inspirational speakers including barrister Anna Warters, Jill Caldwell Chief Executive of Endeavour, Emily and Laura Leyland from Fresh Perspective and Maura Jackson Chief Executive of Backup.

Jenna said: “I decided to set up the event to raise awareness of domestic abuse and also funds for two amazing local charities.

“I won an Orange Champion Award last November 2022 at the She Inspire Awards which is held at the Bolton Stadium each year and wanted to make a difference.

“The She Inspires foundation has adopted the United Nations ‘Orange The World’ campaign, that heralds 16 days of activism each year to fight violence, with the colour orange symbolizing a brighter future, free of violence.

“Within my work as a family lawyer I see often the devastating impact domestic abuse can have on families and I wanted to make a difference and raise awareness of domestic abuse which can affect both men and women.

“It is vital to raise awareness of domestic abuse which is what the event is about and bringing people together.

“I also wanted to raise funds for two amazing local charities, Endeavour which is a charity that helps victims of domestic abuse and their pets in our local area and Backup which helps young homeless people.

“Both do incredible work and make a real difference to those who need it in the local Bolton community.”

People can support by attending on the night as all proceeds will go to the charities.

The event is between 6-9pm, tickets are £15, and the event is ticketed only, and sales will close midnight May 4.
