The sun shone as Bolton staged another day of Coronation celebrations.

After a day of celebrations yesterday (Saturday), residents were ready to do it again, making the most of the three-day weekend.

A Coronation Big Lunch was held today in Egerton Park, with hundreds of people turning out to soak up the sun.

Fair rides, stalls from local businesses, live music and more  brought out the community.

Lulus Luxury Fragrances, based in Astley Bridge, had a stall set up at the fete.

Peter Jessey of Lulus Luxury Fragrances said: “It’s been good. We’ve had a lot of customers, the weather has been nice so people have come out.

“We make it all. It’s good to get the brand out and see the community. It’s a big part of history.

Residents of Purbeck Drive in Lostock held a street party for the coronation today, after a bumper event for the jubilee last year.

They gathered at tables, chatted and ate together.

Organiser, Jane Thompson, said: “It’s been lovely, it’s been quieter than last year, but a lot more relaxing. The community spirit has been really great.

“Everybody wanted to carry on with the community spirit from the jubilee last year onto the King’s Coronation this year.

“We’ve also been fundraising for Bolton Hospice as we did last year. We raised over £1000 then, this year we have raised around £150, but we’re trying our best to make it a good cause.”

Tomorrow, Over Hulton residents will be celebrating and staging their very own Coronation Show on Bank Holiday Monday, May 8.
