A popular pub in Tonge Fold is set to reopen its doors this week after a £262,000 makeover.

The Black Horse has been given a new lease of life and will be reopening its doors on Friday May 12, after extensive enhancements have been made to the interior, exterior and garden.

Inside the pub, owned by Craft Union Pub Company, there are new fixtures and fittings, and the pubs interior has also been transformed into a modern and fresh space to relax with friends, family, and pets.

The pub interior even pays tribute to veterans, with a large photo hung on the wall, detailing the names of all the local heroes who lost their lives in the war.

The pub’s garden has also been given a revamp, ready for the long-awaited summer months and is a great place to enjoy a drink with friends and family under the sun.

The drinks menu has also been refreshed and enhanced, so returning customers and new faces alike will have the choice of a huge range of drinks, including Boddingtons and cocktails.

Each week, the Black Horse will have a variety of entertainment going on to bring all of Tonge Fold together for some fun.

Starting off the week, on a Monday is Bingo, Wednesdays are quiz nights and to end the week on Friday nights the pub will showcase live music from artists, and Saturday nights are karaoke.

Sport is also a big part of the pub’s entertainment, with new and improved areas to watch live games regularly as well as a new pool table and darts board.

Familiar faces will remain behind the bar as landlords Michael and Amanda Regan are returning to the Black Horse after being there for the last seven years.

The husband-and-wife duo have a lot of history with the pub.

It is the third site they have run together and is also the place they first met, over a game of pool.

From their time at the pub, they have built a reputation for the fun-packed events they throw including Halloween and Christmas parties.

Michael said: “The pub looks amazing after its investment, and we are completely in love with it! We are very excited about the future of the Black Horse and believe the investment has given the pub a new lease of life.”

“Amanda and I are eager to get the doors open and see everyone again, we have missed all the locals!

"Over our time at the pub, we have created some great relationships with those in the area, so it will be nice to share the Black Horse's new chapter with them too.”

To celebrate the Black Horse’s reopening, Michael, Amanda and the team will be welcoming all to join them for their launch weekend.

The launch party will have a carnival theme, and to start the celebrations, karaoke will take place on Friday, May 19 from 5pm.

The main event will be on Saturday May 20 when from 6pm the Black Horse will host stilt walkers and fire breathers, and there will also be a DJ playing tunes throughout the night.

The night is also fancy dress, and Michael and Amanda will be dressing up as ringmasters, so dig out your best and brightest carnival-themed outfits.

To end the launch weekend celebrations, there will be live music on Sunday, May 21 from 6pm.

Amanda said: “The community is a huge part of the Black Horse, and all the work we do for individuals in the community and charities is what we are well known for in the area.

“We are looking forward to having a great time with our customers during the week, and to many future fundraising initiatives, especially towards our local charity of Bolton Hospice.

“Michael, the team and I look forward to seeing you all soon!”
