Two suspected burglars have been arrested after early morning raids in Bolton.

The 54-year-old man and 17-year-old boy are still in custody for questioning after being arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle at two separate homes on Thursday morning.

Various items were also seized as evidence and police say their investigation is still continuing.

Sergeant Carla Deighton, of Greater Manchester Police's Bolton Neighbourhood Priority Crime Team, said: "Burglary and vehicle offences are intrusive and we are aware of the impact they have on victims.

"We hope this morning's action builds public trust and confidence that GMP is committed to investigating neighbourhood crimes whilst keeping communities safe.

Sgt Deighton has advised the public to deter burglars by using alarms, light timers and locking doors and windows.

She has also encouraged people to make sure they close windows when they leave rooms, to consider extra security measures like patio door locks and using light timers when it goes dark.
