A medical course held in Bolton has won plaudits for the “knowledgeable and engaging” way it has been teaching the next generation of junior doctors.

The Ear, Nose and Throat course has been held at the University of Bolton’s Institute of Medicine on Queen Road, Farnworth, having been designed to help junior doctors diagnose and manage common conditions.

This includes topics including the anatomy and physiology of the ear, nose, and throat, which delegates have said will prove vital to their everyday work as doctors on the frontline.

One delegate who attended said: “It was a really excellent course, enjoyable, knowledgeable, with engaging lecturers, interactive and useful day-to-day.”

As well as theoretical knowledge, the course offered practical experience in performing ENT examinations and procedures, with hands-on training sessions, where junior doctors were able to practise techniques such as nasal endoscopy, otoscopy and flexible laryngoscopy.

The course was led by a range of experienced ENT specialists, who provided lectures, case-based discussions and hands-on training sessions.

It was designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of junior doctors in the diagnosis and management of common ENT conditions.

Course leader and organiser, Mr Vikas Malik, ENT consultant at the Royal Bolton Hospital, said he was thrilled with the feedback from delegates.

He said: “We are committed to providing high quality training and education to healthcare professionals and we are delighted to have received such positive feedback from the course.

“We are dedicated to enhancing learning around ENT and look forward to continuing to provide valuable educational opportunities for junior doctors."

The university hopes that the ENT course will help to build on its reputation in the medical field.
