A school was delighted to receive a delivery with a difference from Amazon.

Ladywood School in Little Lever received a donation of books from the online delivery firm which has a base in Bolton.

Ladywood School teaches primary aged pupils with complex learning difficulties.

Pupils are cared for in a creative, engaging learning environment and offered holistic educational support to ensure that they gain essential skills and receive the very best from their educational experiences.

As well as donating the books, several employees from Amazon in Bolton visited to help pupils pick up litter in the areas surrounding the school.

Susan Tailor, headteacher at Ladywood School, added: “Thank you to John and the team from Amazon in Bolton for the donation of books to Ladywood School – our pupils will love them.

"We were so pleased to have the team visit our school to provide extra support for our litter picking event, too – we hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.”

Amazon have previously donated books, toys and Fire Tablets to the school last December, to provide further support to its pupils and staff.

John Strydom, site leader of Amazon in Bolton, said: “It was our pleasure to visit Ladywood School and lend a helping hand at the pupils’ litter picking event.

"The school is a great asset to the local community, and we love finding creative ways to support it.

"We hope that our donation of books will aid the learning and development of the pupils we met and others at the school.”

The donation to Ladywood School was made as a part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses, as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than six million healthy breakfasts to families in England.
