A heavy good vehicle was stopped by the police on a motorway earlier today and found to be heavily over its permitted weight.
The lorry was stopped by Greater Manchester Police on the M62 at around Junction 20, also known as the Thornham Interchange.
On weighing the vehicle, officers reported the driver after finding it was well over its permitted weight.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Another one stopped by GMPVCU on the M62 J20.
“The vehicle was weighted and found to be 25.1 per cent over on axle one, 56.4 per cent over on axle two and 59.5 per cent over on its gross.
“The vehicle was prohibited until the load was corrected and the driver reported.”
This comes amid increasing concerns about the motorways around Bolon and further afield across Greater Manchester in recent times.
This has included cases of dangerous driving, driving without licences and driving without insurance.
Police have also reported recent cases of drink driving and drug driving.
Officers have urged anyone with any concerns about crime or anti-social behaviour on the roads or otherwise in their communities to get in touch by calling 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can also call independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
