An inquest opened into the death of a man who was discovered dead at his home in Blackrod.
Matthew Taylor was discovered by his ex-partner at his home on Paddocks Close this month.
At Bolton Coroner's Court this week an inquest opened into the death of the 28-year-old before area coroner Professor Dr Alan Walsh.
The Police Coroner's Officer, Stefan Wilson, outlined the circumstances of the incident.
Mr Wilson said: "A call was made to the police from North West Ambulance Service. They were called when Mr Taylor was discovered by his ex-partner.
"On the same day he was declared dead by paramedics," Mr Wilson added.
A post mortem at Royal Bolton concluded the cause of death was hanging.
Professor Dr Walsh asked for statements from a GP, Greater Manchester Police and mental health services and he adjourned the inquest until September 6.
