A Pub, which is a popular spot with walkers and the local community is under new management.

The Royal Arms, based at Tockholes underwent significant expansions a number of years ago and will now be managed by a hospitality group.

The Lancashire Hospitality Co-operation already manage a number of venues in the region, including The Greyhound in Barnoldswick. It is run by Ben Boothman and Jon Hudson.

They are hoping to bring their ‘extensive hospitality expertise’ to the venue. The company said they had already revamped the existing menu and drinks offering, with further plans in the pipeline.

Group CEO Ben Boothman said, "The Royal Arms is a fantastic venue and when the opportunity came up, we jumped at it.

“Its location is perfect for attracting visitors from both Darwen, Blackburn and Bolton, and it was easy to see how we could apply our model to an already excellent business.

“We are big Real Ale advocates, with several of our venues CAMRA award winners, and we have already introduced some of our local favourites to the regulars.

“The food offering has had a few changes, and we will be introducing a traditional Sunday Roast in the next month. We also have plans to expand the wine offering via our close partners at BonCru Wines.”

The pub would continue with existing staff members and also continue to use local suppliers for its produce.

The venue attracts visitors and walkers heading up to Darwen Tower and Roddlesworth Woods.

Ben had also posted on Facebook earlier: “We are hugely proud to be taking over at this stunning pub in its beautiful surroundings! We also can’t wait to meet the fabulous regulars and customers that Ruth, Robin and the team have told us so much about.

“Ruth and Robin have been brilliant in the way they have helped us in this process. They were also very insistent that both their staff and customers are looked after by us, as they embark on their next adventure for which wish them all the joy and happiness they deserve.

“With that, please know that we will not be looking to change the pub. We believe a pub is the heart of any community and we hope to do your pub justice.”

Former managers Robin and Ruth Tillbrook said: “We have had an amazing five years and would like to thank everyone for you custom and support during our time here at The Royal Arms.

“We could not have achieved the success without our amazing team.

“I am sure you will give the new incoming guys the same support as we have received and we look forward to watching the pub flourish even more.”
