Manchester Pride is set to take to the streets of the city next month and whether you’ve got tickets or you’re wondering whether to get some, here are some things you might need to know.

The event celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and there’s a variety of activities to get involved with.

From when is it to this year’s theme and remaining tickets – here’s everything you need to know about Manchester Pride 2023.

When is Manchester Pride 2023?

Manchester Pride will take place from August 25-28 this year.

The event always takes place over the August bank holiday, according to the Manchester Pride website.

What is the theme for Manchester Pride this year?

Manchester Pride is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of marriage equality in England and Wales and the theme reflects that this year.

The theme for Manchester Pride 2023 is ‘Queerly Beloved’ which it says will delve “into the transformative power of the dance floor” and highlight “its pivotal role in fostering self-acceptance and igniting a sense of empowerment and liberation”.

The idea is that Manchester streets will become a dance floor, a space where queer individuals can forget societal expectations and reclaim their bodies and identities.

The website adds: “The ballroom scene served as a safe haven for the community, particularly for those who faced additional discrimination and marginalisation, such as queer, trans, and intersectional people of colour (QTIPOC) and the wider trans communities.

“Amidst the ongoing fight against racism and for trans rights, it provided a platform for individuals to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

“The ballroom scene continues to be a powerful force, centering trans and QTIPOC voices and experiences, challenging norms, and redefining notions of beauty, artistry, and self-expression.

“The dance floor has always been a sacred space for the LGBTQ+ community, and now, it's time to embrace it on the Parade route!”

How to get tickets to Manchester Pride 2023

Weekend tickets and tickets for each individual day of the long weekend are still available to buy via the Ticketmaster website at the time of writing.

The Manchester Pride website explains: “A £2.50 fixed donation from every ticket goes directly to the Manchester Pride Community Fund, and every penny goes to supporting LGBTQ+ causes and projects in Greater Manchester.”

Manchester Pride will see a variety of events take place across the weekend, including some that are free to attend.
