Summer fun was enjoyed at a primary school fair.

St Catherine's CE Primary School in Horwich held its annual fete and was able to introduce more attractions thanks to a £400 donation from Bellway.

With its Barton Quarter development located nearby and already home to children from the school, the housebuilder said it was keen to contribute to the success of the annual summer fair, covering the cost of a fantastic inflatable bouncy castle and ‘up close and interactive’ reptile experience for the children.

Both the bouncy castle and reptile handling experience were used by the school to raise funds towards installing play equipment in the school playground.

The stands were manned by volunteers from the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) who made a small charge to enjoy a fun bouncing session on the inflatable or to handle one or two of the amazing reptile visitors that included snakes and chameleons.

PTA representative Rebecca Thaell said: “We are extremely grateful to Bellway for its donation towards our school fair; the children always enjoy the bouncy castle and it’s a great fundraiser but we also had enough cash to cover the cost of the reptile handling experience which was a real hit too – everyone had a great day!”

Headteacher Karen Graham added: “We really do appreciate the support of businesses in our community when it comes to our summer fair. Bellway has helped us raise a significant amount towards the new equipment which we hope to confirm in the next school year.”

Sales director at Bellway Manchester Grace Yarlett, said: “We were very happy to support St Catherine’s.

"Our Barton Quarter development is less than half a mile away and we enjoy a close association with the school as it’s in the local catchment for our residents. It’s wonderful to hear that the summer fair has been so successful in raising more funds for the outdoor play equipment.”

Part of the Rivington Chase regeneration project, Bellway’s Barton Quarter development which is now into its second phase, offers three and four bedroom new build homes close to the centre of Horwich.

Prices start from £253,999 for a three bedroom semi-detached home rising to £389,995 for four bedroom detached home.
