Two women have been arrested on suspicion of assault after police cars were seen outside a house throughout yesterday.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers were called to Monks Lane in Breightmet to reports of an assault just before 10am yesterday, Tuesday, August 1.

Residents said that police cars were spotted outside an address on the street throughout the day, arriving at around 10am and leaving in the evening.

Police could be seen in two separate locations on Monks Lane at around 5pm yesterday. 

GMP have now confirmed that two women were arrested on suspicion of assault following the incident, and that enquiries are still ongoing.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 9.55am on Tuesday 1 August 2023, officers responded to reports of an assault in Monks Lane, Bolton.

"Two women were arrested on suspicion of assault.

"Enquiries are ongoing." 

 

One resident said: "The police were here all day and it was worrying.

"I saw forensics going into the house and police seemed to searching in a park nearby.

"No one told us what was going on. It is so worrying."

Speaking at around 5.30pm yesterday, speaking about the police presence, a resident said: "They have been here all day."

Residents said how they were worried about speaking out about any incidents that happen in the area for fear of having their property vandalised.
