A pub has undergone an extensive makeover - making it more popular than ever with the punters.

The Freemasons Pub in Farnworth was closed for a few days to allow work to take place.

Inside the pub has been completely transformed, with the carpet being replaced, new seating, new photographs on the wall, and the walls repainted.

The outside garden area has also been repainted and it will be finished once the furniture is installed.

Landlord Lorraine Bromiley – who is originally from Great Lever – said: “More people have started coming in.

The Bolton News:

“We ran out of beer over the weekend, and we never run out of beer.

“Our pub is very welcoming, we have good staff, a great atmosphere, and beautiful surroundings to sit in”.

Lorraine says that the work was carried out - as a reward from management company Amber Taverns - due to the pub performing well.

Lorraine added: “It’s brilliant and it’s good for us to see what they are doing, and being rewarded for our hard work.

“It’s beautiful to work in here now and it is even better for the customers.

The Bolton News:

“We have a really good customer base and a lot of new faces have been coming in since.”

Lorraine says that since the alcohol duty tax increased last Tuesday, everything has gone up by 10p in her pub, but she says the pub is still among the cheapest.

She added: “We were feeling it a bit, but since the makeover more people have been coming in.

“I believe that if there are more pubs in Farnworth more people will come to Farnworth.

“There is enough business for everyone; I don’t believe in competition.

“I believe we should work together and help each other out.

“It’s up, up, and up going forward.”

Lorraine took over during Covid and says that her no-nonsense approach has been key.

She said: “We have no messing about at the pub.

“We don’t want people to feel intimidated or not welcome.”

Bartender Gordon Anderson said: “I really like the changes that have been made.

“It is such a massive improvement.”
