An outdoor inflatable bounce park has been forced to postpone booked sessions today because of the rainy weather.

Open Air Bounce in Over Hulton is a bouncy castle park with activities and fun entertainment for children.

It was started by dad Leighton Mills, who has had success since the opening, with every session a week fully booked.

But today, on Saturday, August 12, sessions were cancelled due to the bad weather causing a health and safety concern.

The sessions affected were from 10am to 6pm, but Sunday’s sessions are currently still going ahead.

Leighton said: “We cannot help the bad weather and if it’s not on our side, we have to close.

"All we can do is reassure people that they will not lose money and will get the chance to book another session at a later date of their choice at their convenience.”

There is no expiry date for those wishing to re-book sessions with vouchers sent to their phones.

Leighton said: “It happens because we have had a bad summer and we cannot control that.

“We have had terrible weather in July, so we were closed for a week.

“We are an outdoor venue, so we knew this was going to happen from time to time.”

Despite the weather concerns, Open Air Bounce has been running successfully since opening in April.

Leighton said: “For the first year, it’s blown us away.

“We have had a lot of support from everyone and have reached 6,000 followers on Facebook in just one year.”

On Sunday, a foam party is planned, and the weather looks improved for sessions to go ahead.

But Monday’s weather shows some rain, and Open Air Bounce will make a decision on the day whether to continue.

Leighton said: “It’s obviously frustrating to have to close but it’s not something we can control.

“And when we have told people they have been more than understanding as they know it can happen with things like this.

“We just want to thank everybody for the support they show us In just our first year of operating, and we are excited to be back.”
