Police in Bolton have arrested a man accused of selling a bike stolen from Northamptonshire.

Offices in the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team assisted Northamptonshire Police in recovering the stolen bike this afternoon, Tuesday.

The bike was stolen from the county in February this year and was spotted being sold online by its owner.

Officers from Northamptonshire police posed as buyers and arranged to meet the seller, who is based in Bolton.

Writing on its Facebook page, a GMP Bolton North Police spokesperson said: “Officers from the #Bolton North Neighbourhood Team have assisted Northamptonshire Police in recovering a stolen bike this afternoon.

“The bike (pictured) had been stolen from the Northamptonshire area in February 2023 and was spotted by the victim being sold online. Officers from Northamptonshire Police posed as buyers and arranged to meet the 'seller' in Bolton.

“Despite the male’s attempt to get away, he was detained and swiftly arrested. A 42-year-old male has been arrested for handling stolen goods and remains in police custody for questioning. #TeamWork.”
