An appeal is underway after police “exhausted all lines of inquiry” into an alleged sex assault on a woman more than a year ago.

The woman, in her 20s, is believed to have been assaulted after a night out in Manchester City Centre on Friday March 18 2022.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Salford division have now released a picture of a man they hope to trace in connection with their investigation.

Detective Constable Chloe Hill from Salford CID said: “We have exhausted all our lines of enquiry up until this stage, but now is the right time to seek the public’s assistance in helping us try and identify the man pictured who we believe could help up with our investigation.

“If anyone knows this man or if the individual in questions sees this, please get in touch with us.”

The investigation is still ongoing and police hope that identifying the man could prove helpful.

Officers have appealed for anyone who may recognise the man from the photograph or who may know anything else to come forward as soon as possible.

They can do so by calling 0161 856 5194 quoting crime reference number CRI/06FF/0007663/22.

Alternatively, witnesses can contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
