Thousands of students have been finding out how they got on in their A-levels across Bolton.

At The Sixth Form Bolton students achieved top marks, with an overall pass rate of 98 per cent for A-Levels, with 76 per cent of all subjects achieving a 100 per cent pass rate and 93 per cent BTEC Extended Diploma students achieving higher-grade passes.

Principal, Stuart Merrills, said: “I would like to congratulate all of our students on receiving their results today. We are immensely proud of their achievements, as they should be too.

“Many students across the years have benefitted hugely from being at The Sixth Form with its great track record for student achievements and progression and this year is no exception.

“We would like to wish them all the very best for the future and to thank them for their excellent contribution to The Sixth Form, sustaining our position as a nationally high achieving Sixth Form College.”

Although these were the first external assessments that students faced Canon Slade School  students secured a quarter of their grades at A* and A, and 53 per cent being at grade B or above.

Headteacher for Canon Slade School Karen Sudworth said: "Canon Slade and Sixth Form want to share a huge congratulations to all our year 13 students on their achievements throughout the last two years.

"It is a tremendous achievement to have done so with maturity and resilience, and we are very proud of them all.

"Our students are more than a grade.

"The resilience they have shown under such conditions is remarkable.

"Whilst we celebrate with them, we will also miss them and their wider contribution to our school family.”

Thornleigh Salesian School have also been celebrating an increase in the highest grades that students have achieved after results have returned to pre-Covid levels.

Headteacher of Thornleigh Salesian College, Andrea O'Callaghan said: "We could not be any prouder of these young men and women.

"The staff in our school have been relentless in their pursuit of excellence for these students and the support that every individual has received has been absolutely first class.”

Head of the Sixth Form, Kelly Bali congratulated all the young people now leaving to study and work all over the UK after their time at Turton Sixth Form.

Ms Bali said: “They have been an amazing group of young people to work with.

“Having gone through Covid and not done exams and it has been a tough two years for them, and they are hoping to change the world.

“Many students have had a lot of difficulties this year with so many things, so we are very proud of them all.

“I am hoping that they will go and celebrate all their achievements now.”

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Martin Donaghy, said:

“Today’s results reflect a great deal of hard work for Bolton students, their families and teaching staff.  

“Congratulations to everyone who has received the grades they wanted today. Students can now look forward with confidence to starting the next phase of their lives, whether that be the first year of university, an apprenticeship or employment.

“I want to thank teachers, governors, staff and parents for their commitment, dedication and support for our young people.

“If you didn’t get the grades you wanted, you should still be incredibly proud and know there are lots of options open to you, Bolton Council’s Connexions Service is on hand to offer advice and support.”
