Haydock Park is poised for its most popular racing day of the year on Saturday.

The three-day meeting, which comes to a climax at the weekend, features two of the racecourse's most famous and historic races - the bet365 Lancashire Oaks and the bet365 Old Newton Cup.

Friday night is the third Harvey Nichols Ladies' Evening of the season when fashion will be to the fore.

Later in the month, the racecourse hosts - on Sunday, July 13 - its annual midsummer family funday, and five days afterwards it's the final music night of 2008, sponsored by Cancer Research UK, with a personal appearance by Atomic Kitten.

Dickon White, the racecourse's managing director, said: "There is truly something for everyone at Haydock Park this month . . . top quality horse racing, fashion, family fun, and music."

Thursday afternoon is Glass Times raceday, with a first race time of 2.10pm.

With the long summer nights, there's plenty of time to get to the racecourse on Friday for the Havey Nichols' Ladies Evening when the first race is at 6.55pm.

With just under £300,000 in prize-money available on Saturday afternoon, top horses will be coming from all parts of Britain - and possibly beyond - especially for the two principal races.

The high class racing, which is under way at 2.25pm, has attracted the cameras of Channel 4 Racing.
