An electrical fire broke out at a town centre bar basement this afternoon, Wednesday.

Three fire engines were called to Yates on Bradshawgate at 12.37pm after a member of staff noticed smoke in the wine lodge coming from a hydraulic pump.

The only damage reported was to the electrics of the hydraulic pump, and everyone was evacuated safely.

The bar was cordoned off as crew members made the area safe.

Watch manager Darren Collier from Bolton Central Fire Station said: "It was an electrical fire on a hydraulic lift that was in the basement of the wine lodge.

"We got the call out at 12.37pm and there were two fire engines from Bolton Central and one from Bolton North.

"The only damage was to the electrics on the hydraulic pump, one staff member noticed smoke in the corridor and the fire alarm went off, everyone was evacuated."
