A man is in custody tonight after officers discovered drugs during a stop and search.

The man was arrested in Halliwell, when he and a car was searched.

The discovery comes only a matter of months after mums in the area expressed concerns over drug dealing in the area.

A spokesman for GMP Bolton North said: " Officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team have arrested a male this evening on suspicion of possession of Class B with Intent to supply and possession of Class A in Halliwell.

"The arrest came following a search under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act of this vehicle and the driver, where a quantity of Class B drugs were found under the driver's seat. The male is now in police custody."

In July, a women's only PACT - partners and community together - was held with representatives from the council and police listening to concerns from the community.

The women in Bolton discussed how drugs was a huge problem that needed tackling in order to protect young children.

More than a dozen cars were seized across a Bolton while more than 100 people were searched in ongoing efforts to disrupt the drugs trade.

The seizures and searches took place over the May in response to concerns raised in the community about street dealing and the crime associated with it.
