A man who got involved in the drug trade several times despite his “multifaceted character” has been given a lengthy jail sentence.

Kyle Daniels, 32, was first arrested after police searched a family member’s house in Crumpsall, Manchester in April 16 2020 finding drugs including heroin and MDMA along with ammunition which he appeared to have let a friend store.

But Bolton Crown Court heard how police then discovered more drugs, along with a mobile phone and cash when they searched Daniels’ home on Barchester Avenue, Bolton just over a year later on April 9 2021, after he had already been released under investigation.

Sophie Kenny, prosecuting, said: “He had maintained his involvement in drugs supply or at least had again entered into drug supply since April 2020.”

Ms Kenny told the court how police found cocaine and cannabis at the house as well as two mobile phones, cash and other “drug paraphernalia.”

They also found what appeared to be three snap bags of heroin on a neighbours roof that appeared to have been thrown there.

Daniels, who has two previous convictions for three offences, was bailed but yet more drugs were found when police searched his home again on February 23 this year.

This time they found cannabis, around 10g of MDMA, a debtors list, around £7000 in cash and a noxious liquid cannister with a hunting knife and imitation AK47 submachine gun.

Daniels eventually pleaded guilty to several charges of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply, possession of ammunition and possession of a weapon for the discharge of noxious liquid.

Adam Lodge, defending, argued that Daniels, who he said was "clearly a community minded individual" deserved credit for having pleaded guilty.

He also told the court there was another side to the 32-year-old, who had previously helped to organise community events and Bonfire Night celebrations.

Mr Lodge said that the drugs had been sold to a relatively limited circle of contacts and that “he wasn’t living a lavish lifestyle.”

He told the court how Daniels’ “life spiralled out of control” due to a debt he needed to pay off and that he had no influence on the people above him in the drugs chain.

Mr Lodge said that since he had been on remand Daniels had shown himself to be a “model prisoner” engaging with the authorities and taking on extra tasks.

Recorder Paul Hodgkinson said: “There is more than one side to this defendant, he is not simply a professional drug dealer.”

He added: “His character is multifaceted.”

But Recorder Hodgkinson also said that Daniels was now “old enough to know better” and reminded the court of the three separate police searches uncovering drugs.

He sentenced Daniels to a total of 85 months in prison.
