A Bolton company hopes to “be a role model” after being honoured at this year’s business awards.

At a ceremony held at the Bolton White Hotel, the Bolton News Business Awards 2023 handed down the Environmental and Sustainability Award to Party and Play Funhouse.

After owner and managing director Catalina Sastre-Done collected her award she said she hoped she could blaze a trail for other businesses.

She said: "I'm overwhelmed I'm just glad we've been recognised for what we do and I hope we can be a role model to other companies to reach the Net Zero goal.

"We're trying to half our emissions by 2040 and I think we're going to do that!"

Bolton Council leader Cllr Nick Peel said in his keynote address that innovative companies like these could be crucial to driving the borough’s economy.

He said: “As business leaders you will know that sometimes all you need is good advice, some reliable guidance, or the right connections.

“That’s where our Business Bolton team comes in.

“The council’s business support service is always on hand to offer advice on developing your business plan, financing business growth, and new ways to take a product or service to market.

“Bolton Council is proud to sponsor the Innovation Award.

“This is a fitting category for us, because innovation is at the heart of everything we do.

“Whether that’s in our approach to partnerships, to securing government funding or in reimagining our town centres to meet the changing demands of today’s customers.

“But we are also keen to create spaces for businesses of all sizes to innovate.

“Spaces like Wingates and Logistics North allow business to grow and bring forward new innovations in products and services.

“As I speak, work is also underway to convert the Wellspring building into a £11m Business and Innovation Hub, creating a dynamic workspace environment for digital and creative technology businesses and start-ups to come together and thrive.”
