Peter Kay is not simply over the moon with the release of his long awaited memoir - but all over it.
Today marks the launch of his T.V. Big Adventures on the Small Screen and in true hilarious Kay style, the cover has been 'projected on to the moon' in a hilarious comedy skit - which The Bolton News has been a part of.
We have created a special (spoof) front page to celebrate today's launch as part of the social media 'story' surrounding the much anticipated book release.
Inspired by the hit Steven Spielberg's film E.T, the book cover sees Peter straddling a BMX bike across the lunar landscape, which was then projected onto the moon as part of the skit, leaving people in awe.
The Bolton-born comedian said he was “absolutely over the moon, quite literally, ALL over it”.
Apparently Dr Hans Zartide, formerly of NASA, has been developing the pioneering laser telescopic technology for the past 35 years at The Faculty of Science, Humanities, Information and Technology at the University of Morecambe.
The world event was said to have taken place earlier today in the comedy launch, at 4.06am GMT to coincide with September’s Harvest Moon, the ninth full moon of 2023 - with sightings quickly flooded social media from people across the world, from as far as Japan, Alaska and Barnsley in Yorkshire.
Joel Simons, HarperNonFiction Publishing Director said jokingly: “Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, now Peter Kay.
"This is a landmark moment not only for space technology but, more importantly, for book marketing around the world.”
T.V.: Big Adventures on The Small Screen is released today in hardback, audiobook and ebook and is the comedian and best-selling author’s much-awaited new memoir – a love letter to the wonderful world of television and a journey through Peter’s many adventures, in front of and behind the camera.
The book is described as a nostalgic love letter to a childhood spent idolising “the wooden box in the corner of the front room” that went on to inspire a lifetime’s work, publisher Harper Collins UK said.
The publisher said it would include his time making tea at Granada, to behind the scenes on Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy and his Bafta-winning turn as John Redmond in Car Share.

The memoir marks 49-year-old Kay’s long-awaited return to the page following the record-breaking release of his autobiography The Sound of Laughter in 2006, Saturday Night Peter in 2009 and The Book That’s More Than Just A Book in 2011.
Speaking about the book when it was first revealed he was writing it, Kay said: “I’d wanted for years to write about my obsession for TV and working in it.
“It’s been such a massive pleasure recalling the adventures I’ve had over the last 25 years both in front (of) and behind the camera, and I hope people will enjoy reading about the journey as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.”
The book is priced at £25 and can be bought in Waterstones, WHSmith, and other retailers.
