A new car sales showroom could be opened in Bolton.

An applications has gone into create the new business at a former youth centre in Great Lever.

The unit on Summerfield Road in Great Lever has previously been used by the Be the Change Youth Project.

Now the owner has applied for it become car sales place.

The tenants of the property, if the changes are approved, have not yet been determined.

The site is currently vacant.

In an application to Bolton Council the applicants have stressed the building will not be change.

The design and access statement states: “The external of the building will not be changed.

“A planning-compliant sign will be fixed to the exterior.

“The sign will depend on the tenant who has not yet been confirmed.”

It goes on to stress that the surrounding areas would not be affected by the change.

It said: “The location is not residential, the proposal will not affect residents, even though there are houses behind the site screened by dense trees and will not be affected.

“The proposal will not be out of keep with the surroundings and will not create any unreasonable and negative impact on highway safety.

“The building is currently vacant and the proposal will bring an empty building back into use.

“It is therefore requested the proposal be approved.”

The applicants have said that as a limited number of vehicles can be stored on site it is unlikely there would be large visitors.

They would likely do online viewings of cars before an appointment can be made to view it in person.

The capacity of the site would include six cars inside the building, one designated disabled parking space, two staff car parking spots, four visitor spaces and nine spaces for care on sale or to be sold.

The business would be open between 8am and 5.30pm on weekdays and between midday and 4pm on Saturday.
