WE love to shine the spotlight on the best places to enjoy a drink and maybe something to eat.

This time we have headed to a great spot on the outskirts of Bolton, in Adlington.

Name of the pub:

The Old Post Office - Escape Brewery Tap Bar

Address of the pub:

161 Chorley Road, Adlington

Landlord/landlady name:

Dave

How long have you been the landlord/landlady for?

Almost 2 years

Bar staff and their names:

Shedy, Sophie and Beth

Give us some history about the pub:

The bar used to be the local Post Office for Adlington, hence the name. We still have an operational post box outside and there is quite often a queue of people asking for stamps whilst out walking the dog!

Is food served? If so what’s on the menu?

We serve meat, pork and cheese pies from Horwich-based Greallys’ butchers Friday to Sunday.

Is there a beer garden?

Yes, it’s lovely little sun trap looking over playing fields.

Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams?

No

Most popular drink is:

Escape Brewery cask ales

Most memorable moment at the pub:

New Years Eve 2021. That was when the The Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle came in for a pint! He lives locally.

Entertainment line-up?

We have a quiz night on every other Wednesday. There is also a guitar available all the time if any budding musicians are in!

Have you faced any challenges within the industry?

The threat of more Covid lockdowns in winter 20/21 just as we opened! Luckily this was avoided.

The best thing about running a pub is...

Our amazing bar staff and customers! Hearing the great feedback we receive about our very own Escape Brewery ales and the many guest beers we choose for the bar.

The worst thing about running a pub is...

It’s all a bed of roses! (Jokes)

The perfect hangover cure is...

A nice pint of Escape Brewery real ale!
