A 49-year-old man has been charged with after two burglaries in Bolton.

David O'Mahoney, 49 of Park Road, Bolton has been charged with five offences including allegedly burgling two homes and the theft of a bike.

O'Mahoney has been charged with a business burglary, burglary of two homes on January 1 this year, an attempted burglary on January 1, and theft of a bike on June 29 this year.

O’Mahoney was been remanded to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates court on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Earlier this month, figures were released to show which area of Bolton were hotspot areas for burglaries.

The data, collated by Money Supermarket, has looked at more than seven million home insurance quotes from its customers to find the postcode areas in the UK with the highest and lowest rates of burglary claims since 2020.

The worst affected area , according to the figures, is the BL7 postcode, which covers Belmont, Edgworth, Egerton, and Turton.

Here, the number of burglary insurance claims per 1,000 quotes since 2020 was 23.45, with residents here having a 2.35 per cent of being burgled.

Elsewhere in Bolton the safest part was the BL2 post code, which includes Ainsworth, Bradley Fold, Bradshaw, Breightmet, Harwood, Tonge Fold and Tonge Moor.
