What did The Times have to say about The Midland?
The Times said: “Art deco enthusiasts can enjoy an autumn escape at the Midland, which celebrates its 90th birthday this year. Designed by the architect Oliver Hill to complement the curve of the promenade on Morecambe Bay, the hotel’s 44 rooms have views across the sands or towards the fells of the Lake District.
“While the bedrooms have been modernised (muted grey and white with flashes of red), the ground floor has been restored to reflect its art deco origins, including a mosaic seahorse designed by the American textile designer Marion Dorn. After a brisk walk along the beach, pull up a chair at the Ravilious Rotunda bar and drink in the views through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
“The Sun Terrace restaurant also competes with bay views and features Morecambe Bay shrimps and Ribble Valley chicken on its menu (mains from £18).”
